Hello Harini,
Next CEED will be held in November 2013, around 2nd week.
You can appear for GATE, since GATE score is accepted in IITK and at IISc.
You can mail me if you need further clarification.

Hello Prasanna!!!
thank u...u r doing a splendid work here....congrats:):):)

Hi Prasanna I absolutely love your blog, just wanted to ask you how to prepare for Part B if I want to go for IDC Animation. What should I do to study for Part B and also for DAT and Interview. Thanks :)

Prasanna Gadkari (M.Des in Product Design from I.I.Sc. ) said...

Hello Jaai ,

From what I observed, some candidates who applied for IDC Animation did not attempt the animation/storyboard question. Therefore i feel you should attempt the questions that will fetch you the best score.

For Part B preparation refer to this post

The Design Aptitude Test (DAT) carried out at IISc and IITs is a basic test that can be said to be a mixture of GATE and CEED questions. Like there r questions like, to find out current in a branch of simple electric circuit, or deflection of beam, which is common study in first year of many courses. Also there are some simple CAT-like aptitude questions like, fill the 5th number in series, etc.

Unknown said...

Hi Prasanna, the link you sent me for the Part B preparation does not exist on your blog. Please help. Thank You

Hi Jaai,
I am really sorry. I pasted the link twice so its not working!
Here is the working link.

PRASSANA SIR, AM DIPLOMA MECHANICAL AND B,E MECH.

IN CEED 2014 BROUCHER IT IS MENTIONED AS BELOW PLEASE LET ME KNOW.

Eligibility for CEED 2014

Bachelor's degree in Engineering / Architecture / Design/ Interior Design or equivalent (4 years
duration after 10+2)

NOTE: Candidates with 3 years Bachelors degree are not eligible.

Prasanna Gadkari (M.Des in Product Design from I.I.Sc. ) said...

Hi Jahangeer,
This applies to people who have done 3 years bachelors courses like some BMM courses. You have done 10+2 (i.e. diploma) and then you enrolled in 4 years BTech course. So you are eligible
You can ask IITB for confirmation

Jahan said...

thanku so much sir,
i have a doubt because , we diploma + b.e students will not come under 10+2 category,
cz after 10th + diploma 3year + 3 yr engineering, (latral entry, we join directly 3rd semester)..
but we eligible for GATE.

WOW great blog the only help for CEED aspirants like me on WEB. My questions how much would one need to score to get admitted to a course via CEED to IISc or IITB. I am B.Tech Mechanical

Prasanna Gadkari (M.Des in Product Design from I.I.Sc. ) said...

Hi Pranshu
The cut-off score varies a lot each year, to guess this figure. I suggest you to try for the best score :)

Unknown said...

Hi I am practicing Perspective drawing, sketching, reading some books on Lateral Thinking, and Art and Architecture what else would you suggest for preparation. If any.

Prasanna Gadkari (M.Des in Product Design from I.I.Sc. ) said...

Hi Pranshu,
I feel your practice is incomplete if you dont solve all the old CEED papers available on IITB site. It will build your confidence and show where you are weak.
Also, read the post on how to prepare for ceed, if you have not :)
Enjoy

Jahan said...

hi sir,
all students who join iisc on CEED basis all can be eligible for that stipend,...? or iisc will select few students & they only get that,?

can clearing NET (national eligibility test),by CSIR ,will helps students to get stipend, who are doing M.des..?

Prasanna Gadkari (M.Des in Product Design from I.I.Sc. ) said...

Hi Jahangeer,
All MDes students at IISc and IITs are eligible for the scholarship awarded by Ministry of human resources, Govt. of India.
I dont know about NET scholarship you are referring to

Jahan said...

sir,

Am very much scared about Part-A questions , which are seems like very tough.
sir will u please suggest some books to go through. its all like G.K questions.
or some more best sites to go through.

Prasanna Gadkari (M.Des in Product Design from I.I.Sc. ) said...

Hi Jahangeer,
I guess you need to have a look at the 'resources' section of the blog. I have put down some important links that will help you in preparing for Part A. But, again Part A is always quite unpredictable, so its hard to prepare for it :(

Unknown said...

Hi prassana, I could not clear ceed this year, now instead of waiting for one year i was wondering if i get in another college this year and then again next year if i am able to get admission in a better college, would it be possible for me to change the college at that time? I am not sure if it works that way thats why i posted here. your blog is really helpful!

Prasanna Gadkari (M.Des in Product Design from I.I.Sc. ) said...

Hi nro za.
If you opt to get admitted in a collefe this year, you will need to cancel your admission when you switch over to any other college. And your course will begin from first year all over again. I feel, if you want to play safe, you can get admissted to a college, study for an year and then switch over to IITs. If, god forbid, you dont make it to IITs, then you still have your admission secured in your previous college.
All the best :)

Unknown said...

Alright, thanks! and also I dont know much about how good other colleges are. I will most probably be getting in Srishti, MIT or UID. Can you tell me which one is better?or any other college that i might have missed? I am applying for furniture and interior designing.

Prasanna Gadkari (M.Des in Product Design from I.I.Sc. ) said...

Hi nro za,
I dont know how to compare these institutes amons each other. Why dont you apply to IITs or NID? I can help you with the later :)
Anyway, all the best

Hi Prasanna, I'm BE electronics and telecommunication engineer. I'm not that good at sketching basically how to put my ideas onto paper and that too fast. I had given CEED last year but in vain. Would it be helpful if I join classes for CEED/NID? If yes can you suggest any? So, that I can learn and improve. I'm aiming for product designing.

Prasanna Gadkari (M.Des in Product Design from I.I.Sc. ) said...

Hi Steffy,
To get the ideas rapidly on the paper, you need to focus purely on sketching. This means your ideas should have been finalized before sketching. Therefore, you should generate the ideas and then only begin sketching. You can refer to Attribute Method listed in the blog

Classes work for some but not for all. There are classes out there, but i have not reviewed them. But i am sure that each class would have its own strength. Further, if you read the success stories you will find that many of the top scorers have not joined classes. I am ready to guide you, if you wish to have a guidance. Just drop me a mail on the address that appears in my blogger profile :)

All the best

Unknown said...

Thank you for replying. I would surely be requiring your guidance and help. I will start sketching according to attribute method. Thanks.

Prasanna Gadkari (M.Des in Product Design from I.I.Sc. ) said...

Hi Steffy,
I would be glad to help
Drop me a mail whenever you have a doubt :)

Hello Sir!
I am an engineering graduate from computer science. I have just started preparing for CEED and NID. Are there any chances of selection as i m starting it from the scratch(Not even sketched for more than 4 years!) and planning to give the exams in 2018?

Prasanna Gadkari (M.Des in Product Design from I.I.Sc. ) said...
