Anupriya Kashyap has been a regular reader of this blog and
made it to IDC this year. We thank her for sharing her success story with us
along with pages of her portfolio.
Hello everyone!!
I am Anupriya. I got selected for IDC-VC this year.
I am really happy I made it and I would like to share my success
story with you all :)
I am a computer science engineering graduate but somehow I was always
inclined towards design field. I feel design is my passion, it is something
which I love doing and I don’t get tired of.
My thoughts explained to IDC interview committee: " For me design
is like reading a novel, my curiosity just raises with time, of what will I
get in the end..." It was a spontaneous answer that came from my heart
About CEED prepration:
My sketching isn't that great, I feel my idea generation and writing
skills helped me a lot to get through. CEED is all about presenting
effectively and impressively the skills you are good at and working on the
weaknesses. I didn't sketch for 3 hours daily or anything like that; I
sketched whenever I felt like sketching. That's how I am.
I was never confidant of my sketching or anything ... Tips in TeaCupBlog
and all those exercises that Prasanna sir gave me helped me a lot. I didn't know
what field I was more interested to, and I thank Prasanna Sir and TeaCupBlog
helped me a lot in exploring my own interest.
About DAT:
DAT consisted of three questions. Two were to test our writing skills
and knowledge. One was of sketching related to visual communication.
About Interviews
In my interview I showed my portfolio which had both the digital work
and hand drawn. My portfolio had an essence of literature too which I
explained to them, like I had a book cover design of William Wordsworth poems
collection. And I designed the cover in a way that it was visually expressing
my favourite lines from one of the poem. I explained what concept I had
applied in each of my design. Prasanna Sir guided me throughout my portfolio
preparation and because I am not from a design background it helped me
prepare a good presentable portfolio.
I told them about my hobbies which were mainly related to reading
literature and poetry. I told about a few art galleries in Delhi the city I
belong (which luckily I knew). I also told why I had attempted a product
design question in CEED entrance when my inclination is towards VC. I was
praised for my writing skills which made me a little confidant. I honestly
told them that I think my work isn't that great and I need to improve and
learn a lot which IDC can provide me :)
Overall it was a great experience living in hostel for 4 days meeting
new people. I was not expecting I will make it to IDC. And now that I've made
it I feel I am so lucky :)

She dwelt among the untrodden ways
Beside the
springs of Dove,
A Maid whom there were none to praise
And very
few to love:
A violet by a mossy stone
Half
hidden from the eye!
—Fair as a star, when only one
Is shining
in the sky.
She lived unknown, and few could know
When Lucy
ceased to be;
But she is in her grave, and, oh,
The
difference to me!
