Hi Sir ,

In CEED, I attempted visual communication question , Can I apply for product design ?

Prasanna Gadkari (M.Des in Product Design from I.I.Sc. ) said...

Hello Deepika,
You sure can apply to any course yo wish to, irrespective of what you attempted in CEED. The panel might ask you about this, so be prepared
Best of luck :)

Hello bhagath ,
For your rank, and reservation, i recommend you to apply for private colleges. I feel, you may get into IIITDM and IITG, so you may apply there too.

Hi bhagath ,
I dont think any other college is better than IIT or NID for post graduation in India.
Again, i personally dont know anyone from DSK ISD, though their course contents look amazing

Hello Keerti,
As the site says "Last date of receipt of hard copy of completed M.Des application forms at Academic Office 23rd Jan., 2013" After 13th you wont be able to download the application form. But if you have doubts, to have peace of mind, you can send it before 13th, but the deadline is 23rd :)

Hi Nitin,
Its hard to tell. Cut offs vary each year. You need to apply anyway and let them decide whether you will get through or not
Best of luck

hello sir,
my AIR rank is 262,thanks to all the guidelines u have mentioned on the blog.i have 2 queries.can i get admission in any of the IIT's with this rank in general category?and i am not able to understand part A and B in forms of IDC,so can u help me with that?

Unknown said...

Hi Prasanna,

First of all, great blog! It's nice how you reply to everyone's queries regularly.

I got AIR 29 in CEED, and I'd like to know how the interviews and tests are; what to expect and how to prepare. Also, what is the admission procedure for IISc? The link provided on the website is dead.

I'm applying for Visual Communication at IDC, and one of the tasks is to attach three examples of my work in the field. What should I attach? I'm a lot into photography and I've also done a lot of posters and brochures for college events as well. Should I attach those?

Prasanna Gadkari (M.Des in Product Design from I.I.Sc. ) said...

Hi Sampada,
You know, the cutoff varies a lot each year
There is a chance you might get through if you apply. If you dont apply, you have absolutely zero chance of getting MDes in IDC. So i suggest let IDC decide that and trust your luck

Prasanna Gadkari (M.Des in Product Design from I.I.Sc. ) said...

Hi Aakash,

You can find all the relevant links here

Admission procedure is same as given here

you can attach the posters and brochures as you have designed them.

Thanks!

You mentioned in this comment that CEED candidates can apply for NID as well? I looked up on the NID website but didn't find any info given about applying through CEED. Could you shed some light please? Thanks :)

hi...
according to IDC admission procedure they hav declared... they are going to call top 100 students as per CEED score for each discipline.....
here i got 232 rank..
what you think about my rank..?

Prasanna Gadkari (M.Des in Product Design from I.I.Sc. ) said...

Hi Aakash,
Thanks for pointing this out. CEED is not a vlaid exam for NID or DJ as these conduct their own exams. What i meant to say was that candidates can also appear for exams of these institutes after CEED. I have removed the comment to prevent spreading the wrong message

Prasanna Gadkari (M.Des in Product Design from I.I.Sc. ) said...

Hi shrikant,
What IDC means is, they will call top 100 applicants. In those, if the 100th applicant is 233rd rank, you will definitely get a call.
So best of luck

Hi Nitin,
You will need to present sketches of new and existing products in your portfolio. You might be having some ideas ready, then no need to make new ones. Otherwise i suggest that for product design, some physical models and some sketches should be good enough
