Sir, Hi I am mechanical engg student. I have registered for CEED 2015. I got to know through your blog that to get into IISc and IITB/D one has to fill form forms for each institute as well. When are these forms out? What is the process to get into Industrial or Product Design at the above institutes? Many thanks.

Hello Felicia,
did you have a look at this post?
The forms are generally out around the time when CEED results are declared
You can mail me your doubts too :)

Hello Prasanna Sir, I have been following this blog since quite long and this is my first comment/inquiry! Done with Mechanical engg, last year, I am in the process of registering for CEED 2015. I have quite a few doubts, would be glad if i could get it all clarified by you! :)

Scanned documents are to b colored format or black n White format ? i.e signature & Degree certificate.
Thanks in advance.

Prasanna Gadkari (M.Des in Product Design from I.I.Sc. ) said...

Hi Neha,
IITB website states nothing about the color of the scanned document, so your safer bet will be to upload the colored ones than black and white ones :)

*Sigh!! A sheer negligence! No reply to my comment! Didn't think of this.

Hi sir,
I am going to appear for CEED this December. I will have completed my masters in computer applications in 2015 which makes me eligible for the entrance. Will I be able to apply to any college keeping in mind my academic background or will my options in colleges be restricted? What colleges offer interaction design, animation or visual communication other than the IITs? Do I need to register and appear for GATE as well? I am not formally trained in art though i enjoy sketching. How can I build a competent portfolio?
Thanks a lot!:)
Aditi Kamath

Hi Aditi,
With a valid CEED score you would be able to apply to all IITs and if you clear NID entrance then you would be able to apply to NIDs as well. Since you are from computer science background, you might have better application of skills in interaction design. I feel, you should first try IITs and NIDs and then colleges like Shristi or MIT Pune.
Only IISc and IITK consider GATE score. You may appear for GATE to increase your chances of selection, but you might lose your focus on CEED.
For clearing CEED you just need enough sketching to convey your ideas. You dont need artistic sketching
Dont worry about the portfolio right now. After CEED i will help you to build a nice one :)
You can mail me on pg2005.pg@gmail.com
All the best :)

Hello Sir, greetings!
I have one doubt sir, this is not regarding CEED exam but the application!
While uploading my photo for registration, the rules in the brochure has mentioned that the photo resolution has to be
max: 640 x 480 (0.3 mega pixel)
min: 320 x 240

both these dimensions lead to landscape format!

but in the main website when I navigate to the upload section, it says 3.5 cm by 4.5 cm which is portrait format!

And if I go with 3.5 cm by 4.5 cm using Adobe Photoshop Crop tool, what should be my pixel dimension of the image?

Sir, I filled my CEED 2015 form online and it says
"
Application found to be in order and Accepted. Thank you.
Comments Approved
"
But I got this message by them saying that I have still not submitted my form and I should do so by 1st September. I also got an email saying the same. What should I do Sir?

Abhishek Gogoi said...

Same thing I got as an sms, immediately after submiting! And after completion of filling the application, i got this message, "Online Application Submitted successfully and is under Scrutiny." Is there anything to be worried?

Me too getting same sms and emails from ceed office but the online form showing
Application found to be in order and Accepted. Thank you.

Hey,
You should see the CEED 2015 page on Facebook, some people have posted a solution to this.
If you still face this problem,, i suggest to call up IITB office.
Best time to call them is around 2 to 4

Hi,

I have started a blog www.debaratirakshit.blogspot.in
I am setting up myself with new challenges and DIY (Do-It-Yourself) projects.
The whole idea is to be engaged in something creative continiously; be it writing (yes, you can include that too in your portfolio), painting, doodling, photography or any other kind of comple creative projects. Beacuse trying to solve questions everyday become monotonous. It is a more natural way of letting our creative juices get their exercise (and a strong step towards building our skills and portfolio).

We can also collaborate in different projects.

Not: Don't say you do not have time. I work in a Big 4 Consulting Firm. Its about our priorities.

Lets get started! :D

Part A has lot of stuff to be studied. Could you suggest what all is to be studied in Part A ? Or Do provide some links.

Prasanna Gadkari (M.Des in Product Design from I.I.Sc. ) said...

Hi Neha,
There are a lots of topic for Part A, but if you go logically you can arrive at a list by studying previous years CEED papers. Then you can make up your own list for studying. If you email me the list, i can suggest you more topics or remove the trivial ones.
All the best
